Smart Caller ID

Smart Caller ID is a VoIPRoutes.cc add-on designed to improve the effectiveness of outbound calling campaigns. It ensures that every call shows the most relevant Caller ID (CLI) based on the destination being dialed. By automatically selecting the best matching DID from a user’s inventory, the feature maximizes pickup rates, builds trust, and supports compliance.

How It Works

Smart Caller ID follows a defined selection algorithm:

1. Device DIDs Check

   • The system first looks at DIDs assigned to the calling device.

   • If one matches the destination country code, it is selected as Caller ID.

   • If no exact country match exists, the system chooses the DID that is numerically closest to the destination number.

2. User DIDs Fallback

   • If the device has no DIDs, the system checks the DID inventory assigned to the user.

3. Number Field Fallback

   • If no device or user DIDs are available, the system uses the CLI defined in the “Number” field of the account.

4. Pass-Through Caller ID

   • If none of the above apply, the Caller ID provided by the device itself is used.

This hierarchy guarantees a valid and optimized CLI for every outbound call.

Example Scenarios

• Device has multiple DIDs (US, UK, IE, AU, NZ):

  • Call to a US number → US DID is displayed.

  • Call to UK number → UK DID is displayed.

  • Call to Ireland number → Irish DID is displayed.

  • Call to Malta number → Irish DID is displayed (closest numeric match).

  • Call to Poland number → UK DID is displayed (closest numeric match).

• No DIDs on device, but user has an Irish DID:

  • Any outbound call → Irish DID is displayed.

• No DIDs at all, but Number field set:

  • Outbound call → Number field CLI is displayed.
